Director of Underwriting

Job Summary

To support a growing insurance infrastructure, the full-time remote Director of Underwriting will set and enforce underwriting appetite and guidelines, supervise Underwriting Managers, and serve as the senior authority in new-program due diligence and BAA negotiations.

Key responsibilities

• Set and maintain enterprise underwriting appetite, standards, and guidelines across all programs
• Supervise and develop Underwriting Managers, reviewing program-level audits and escalating findings as needed
• Lead the underwriting side of new-program due diligence and negotiate binding authority agreement terms with program partners

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of P&C underwriting experience, including 4+ years in a management role within a delegated-authority/MGA-oversight environment
• Proven track record in setting underwriting guidelines and appetite for a book of business
• Experience in negotiating binding authority agreement underwriting terms directly with program partners
• CPCU, AU, or equivalent underwriting designation is preferred
• Prior experience in fronting-carrier or program administrator underwriting leadership is a plus
