Director of Underwriting Strategy
Job Summary
Supporting the Associate (VP) Chief Underwriter, the full-time remote Director of Underwriting Strategy will manage underwriting strategy execution, mentor underwriters, and enhance training programs while ensuring adherence to governance standards.
Key responsibilities
- Mentor and coach underwriters to enhance technical expertise and consistency in underwriting decisions
- Develop and deliver underwriting training programs in collaboration with underwriting leadership
- Participate in underwriting governance initiatives and provide technical input and analysis
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related work experience required; Master's Degree or MBA preferred
- 10+ years of life underwriting experience with demonstrated signing authority on complex cases
- Experience in mentoring underwriters or serving in a technical leadership role
- Professional designations such as ACS, ALU, FLMI, FALU, or CLU preferred
- Strong understanding of life insurance products and advanced underwriting considerations
