Employment Counsel

Job Summary

Providing day-to-day employment law counseling and compliance support, the full-time Employment Counsel will manage a counseling portfolio across Coinbase's global workforce, advise on international employment matters, and support HR compliance in a remote-first environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own a people relations counseling portfolio, offering legal support on performance management, disciplinary processes, and exits
• Advise on international employment matters, collaborating with local counsel and HR on cross-border issues
• Drive compliance support for AI tool deployment in HR, ensuring adherence to employment law regulations

Required qualifications

• J.D. with active U.S. state bar membership and 5+ years of employment law experience, including in-house advising
• Strong experience in performance management, terminations, and accommodations, with international employment knowledge being a plus
• Hands-on experience with employment litigation and administrative charges
• Working knowledge of U.S. HR compliance requirements, including EEO-1 reporting and pay equity
• Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly, maintaining oversight for business-ready outputs
