Job Summary
Leading a highly senior, globally distributed team, the remote Engineering Manager - Cloud Systems will set technical direction, drive execution on infrastructure projects, and ensure operational excellence for Shopify's foundational systems.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead, grow, and support a senior team of Software engineers, fostering an environment for high performance
- Set technical direction for compute, service discovery, and routing systems in collaboration with technical leads
- Drive execution on large infrastructure projects, managing risks and ensuring operational excellence
Required qualifications:
- Proven experience leading Software engineering teams, particularly with senior and Staff-level engineers
- Strong background in SRE, production engineering, or infrastructure platform work
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes at fleet scale (GKE, EKS, or similar)
- Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts and distributed systems
- Experience in operating production systems with on-call responsibilities
