Job Summary
Leading a highly senior, globally distributed team, the remote Engineering Manager - Cloud Systems will manage the technical direction and operational excellence of Shopify's foundational infrastructure systems while driving execution on large-scale projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead, grow, and support a senior team of Software engineers, fostering an environment for optimal performance
- Set technical direction for compute, service discovery, and routing systems in collaboration with technical leads
- Drive execution on cross-cutting infrastructure projects, ensuring operational excellence and incident response
Required qualifications:
- Proven experience leading Software engineering teams, including senior and Staff-level engineers
- Strong background in SRE, production engineering, or infrastructure platform work
- Hands-on experience running Kubernetes at fleet scale (GKE, EKS, or similar)
- Solid understanding of cloud networking, including load balancers and service discovery
- Experience operating production systems with on-call responsibilities and leading teams through incidents
