English to Japanese Legal Translator

Job Summary

Seeking a qualified freelance English to Japanese Legal Translator and/or Editor, this remote contract position will provide ongoing translation and editing services for legal documents, requiring strong legal terminology skills and the ability to deliver high-quality work.

Key responsibilities

• Provide accurate English to Japanese legal translation and editing services as needed
• Ensure the use of appropriate legal terminology and maintain high standards of written accuracy
• Manage assignments remotely while meeting deadlines and responding to on-demand requests

Required qualifications

• A minimum of three years of professional experience in legal translation and/or editing
• Native-level proficiency in Japanese and English writing skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. legal, judicial, and technical terminology
• Bachelor's degree in a foreign language, linguistics, translation, or a related field
• Experience with computer-assisted translation tools, preferably Trados
