Job Summary
Joining a collaborative Geospatial Technical Services team, the full-time Entry Level GIS Specialist will apply geospatial and cartographic concepts using the ArcGIS software suite to support the development of the National Map in a fully remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the continuous development of the National Map through hands-on geospatial science and cartographic work
- Apply knowledge of GIS concepts and data to support the Seamless 1 Meter Digital Elevation Model development efforts
- Collaborate effectively with technical staff and contribute to the production of quality deliverables
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and 0-2 years of relevant work experience
- Knowledge of GIS and cartographic concepts, including geospatial data and spatial databases
- Familiarity with LiDAR, global mapper, or ArcGIS Pro is a plus
- Ability to communicate clearly and work independently to meet deadlines
- Analytical skills with a capacity for problem-solving and critical thinking
