Executive Director of Assessments

Job Summary

Leading the development of innovative assessment designs for new career-focused AP courses, the full-time remote Executive Director of Assessments will manage the creation of test blueprints, pilot exams, and ongoing assessment item development while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and buy-in for new approaches.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Learning and Assessment leaders to design and refine assessment formats and item types for new AP courses
• Oversee the development of test blueprints and manage the annual cycle of assessment item and version development
• Build and lead a team of assessment design staff, ensuring effective training and calibration of subject matter experts

Required Qualifications

• 1-15+ years of experience in assessment design, test development, or curriculum leadership roles
• Demonstrated track record of innovation in assessment design, particularly in skills-based or project-based models
• Working fluency in assessment data and psychometric outputs
• Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder timelines and driving change across diverse perspectives
• Proven experience in building and leading teams within a matrixed organization
