Fiber Optics System Engineer

Job Summary

Supporting the Optical Distribution Network design and integration, the full-time Staff Fiber Optics System Engineer will manage the design, development, and validation of fiber networks for quantum systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support end-to-end system fiber link architecture connecting subsystems, PICs, and control systems
• Create detailed fiber designs for complex optical distribution networks, including routing and splice plans
• Work with vendors to evaluate and qualify advanced fiber optic components for quantum computing applications

Required qualifications

• M.S. or PhD in Physics, Optical, or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of industry experience
• 5+ years of experience designing, validating, and testing fiber networks and optical systems
• Experience with optical test equipment, including power meters and optical spectrum analyzers
• Proficiency in Python for software controls and developing test methods
• Experience in product lifecycles, transitioning from R&D to product development
