Florida Licensed Hospital Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To ensure accurate billing compliance across the Orlando Health system, the part-time Florida Licensed Hospital Coding Specialist will manage the coding of Same Day Surgery and Outpatient Observation visits, utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 classification systems while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Perform review and analysis of clinical documentation to accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and request additional documentation as needed for coding accuracy
• Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% and participate in quality assurance studies

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree, or completion of a coding certificate program
• Computer literacy and knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• At least 2 years of previous hospital coding experience
• Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)
• Demonstrated knowledge of coding complex outpatient surgical procedures
