Job Summary
To support a growing health information management team, the full-time Florida Licensed Outpatient Coder will assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for surgery and observation cases, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes accurately, maintaining a 96% or higher accuracy rate
- Collaborate with team members to complete coding within two days of patient discharge and manage discharged not final billed account holds
- Communicate with various departments to clarify patient status and resolve coding-related issues affecting claims processing
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with completion of a medical coding certificate program or a two-year Health Information Management program
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency room and ancillary coding
- One of the following certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or CPC-P
- Proficiency in coding software and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to pass an outpatient coding assessment with a minimum score of 75% during the interview process
