Florida Licensed Physician Coder

Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare team, the full-time Florida Licensed Physician Coder will edit and review medical documentation, assign appropriate codes for services rendered, and ensure accurate data entry into electronic medical records while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Edit and review captured charges and medical documentation to determine appropriate codes and modifiers
• Abstract procedure codes from outpatient and inpatient reports and enter charges into electronic medical records
• Communicate documentation discrepancies with coding support staff and assist with escalated coding questions

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience in physician-based coding for outpatient and inpatient procedures
• Current certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent
• Substantial knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifiers
• Familiarity with Microsoft software
