Florida Licensed Physician Coder

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Florida Licensed Physician Coder will edit and review medical documentation, determine appropriate coding for services rendered, and manage patient chart entries while serving as a coding resource for team members.

Key responsibilities

• Edit and review captured charges and medical documentation to ensure accurate coding and modifiers
• Communicate documentation discrepancies with coding support staff and assist with escalated coding questions
• Enter patient demographics and insurance information into electronic medical records and verify data accuracy

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience in physician-based coding for both outpatient/inpatient and surgical procedures
• Current certification as a CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, RHIT, or CBCS
• Substantial knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifiers
• Familiarity with Microsoft software
