Frontend Engineer
Job Summary
To support a pivotal federal program, the full-time Frontend Engineer will build and maintain the VA Design System (VADS) component library, ensuring consistent and accessible user experiences while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the VADS component library, implementing new components and fixing bugs
- Ensure components meet accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA) through testing and documentation
- Publish new versions of the component library and manage downstream integration with shared platform code
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience with React, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Strong CSS/SCSS skills, including familiarity with USWDS and the VADS css-library package
- Deep understanding of API design and backend systems
- Extensive experience with accessibility standards and testing tools
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments and strong collaboration skills
