Job Summary
As a full-time remote General Counsel (California Licensed), the successful candidate will build and lead the legal function, focusing on commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, and advocating for consumer data privacy rights while interfacing with enforcement bodies and managing outside counsel.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise the CEO and leadership team on legal, regulatory, and risk matters
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements while creating processes for managing increased volumes
- Lead data privacy and regulatory compliance efforts, ensuring data broker accountability
Required Qualifications
- 8-15 years of legal experience, including time at a top-tier law firm and in-house at a technology or privacy-focused company
- Strong expertise in U.S. consumer data privacy law and familiarity with relevant regulations
- Experience working with regulatory agencies such as the CPPA and Attorney General offices
- Background in commercial contracts, corporate governance, and financing matters
- Licensed to practice law in the U.S., preferably in California
