Job Summary
To support a leading organization, the remote contract Geospatial Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable geospatial data pipelines and ETL workflows, focusing on raster and satellite imagery processing while collaborating with technical and business stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable geospatial data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows, emphasizing raster and satellite imagery processing
- Optimize solutions using AWS, Spark/PySpark, Python, SQL, and Apache Sedona for efficient data ingestion and processing
- Perform large-scale geospatial operations and apply best practices in data modeling and warehousing concepts
Required qualifications
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, GIS, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering and ETL ecosystems, specifically with AWS geospatial engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with PySpark, Python, SQL, and Apache Sedona
- Understanding of coordinate reference systems and large-scale raster processing
- Familiarity with remote sensing imagery cataloging/versioning (e.g., STAC or equivalent)
