Geospatial Data Engineer
Job Summary
To support a growing data team, the remote contract Geospatial Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable geospatial data pipelines and ETL workflows, focusing on raster and satellite imagery processing using AWS and related technologies.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement geospatial data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows with an emphasis on raster and satellite imagery processing
- Optimize solutions utilizing AWS, Spark/PySpark, Python, SQL, and Apache Sedona for efficient data handling
- Perform large-scale geospatial operations and manage ingestion strategies for complex raster datasets
Required qualifications
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, GIS, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering and ETL ecosystems
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS geospatial engineering and building geospatial/raster pipelines
- Proficiency in PySpark, Python, SQL, and Apache Sedona
- Understanding of coordinate reference systems and experience with large-scale raster processing
