Taking ownership of widely used creative software, the full-time Head of Desktop Engineering will manage desktop architecture, ensure engineering health, and lead C++ discipline initiatives for MuseScore Studio and Audacity, with options for remote work.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee desktop architecture for MuseScore Studio, Audacity, and MuseHub, including engine decisions and architecture management
- Ensure engineering health of desktop applications, focusing on crash-free sessions, license validation, and plugin scanning
- Lead C++ discipline initiatives, including hiring standards, growth, and agentic development within the engineering teams
Required qualifications
- 8+ years in C++ desktop product engineering, with 2-3 years in a leadership role
- Experience shipping cross-platform desktop software to a large consumer install base
- Deep understanding of real-time audio systems and related technologies
- Experience with large legacy codebases and desktop distribution processes
- Desirable experience with plugin hosts and open-source projects
