Head of Engineering
Job Summary
Leading the modernization of PracticeMatch's engineering efforts, the full-time Head of Engineering will oversee the transition from ColdFusion and SQL Server to TypeScript and Python in a fully remote role, while managing the engineering and QA team and ensuring the delivery of reliable software solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Set the architecture and phased migration path for modernization, ensuring safe change through test automation and CI/CD
- Collaborate with the Head of Product to provide accurate delivery forecasts and implement small, frequent releases
- Actively participate in coding, architecture design, and team development, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and leveraging AI in the development process
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
- 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles
- Demonstrated experience in leading legacy system modernization or technology platform migration efforts
- Expert-level understanding of web application architecture and modern web technologies, including cloud infrastructure
- Proven ability to recruit and develop engineering talent at multiple levels
