Head of Engineering (Red Team)

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time Head of Engineering (Red Team) to remotely lead the engineering efforts of a pioneering AI red-teaming program, focusing on building systems and tools that enhance the team's ability to conduct high-stakes engagements with frontier AI companies and governments.

Key responsibilities

• Build and scale a red-teaming engine, including tooling, products, and services that improve testing efficiency and effectiveness
• Empower high-stakes engagements by developing systems that support public reports and benchmarks, enhancing industry standards
• Manage and mentor an elite engineering team, fostering skill growth and maintaining high standards for performance and impact

Required qualifications

• Proven experience in software engineering, AI, or related fields such as cybersecurity or MLOps
• Demonstrated track record of leading and growing technical teams in startup or scale-up environments
• Familiarity with relevant technologies including Python, LLM APIs, cloud infrastructure, and evaluation frameworks
• Experience in rapidly evolving environments with a strong drive for mission impact
• Ability to communicate technical solutions effectively to diverse audiences
