Health Information Access Specialist
Job Summary
To support the management of patient directives, the full-time remote Health Information Access Specialist - Advance Directives will review and assess advance medical directives and legal documents for compliance, provide telephone support to internal and external callers, and manage information authorization processes within the electronic health record system.
Key responsibilities
- Review and assess compliance of advance medical directives and legal documents, entering system flags to alert clinicians
- Manage verbal and information exchange authorizations, ensuring proper documentation and compliance
- Provide telephone support to staff, doctors, patients, and social workers regarding patient directives and information sharing
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; Associate's Degree in HIM, HIT, or relevant discipline preferred
- One to three years of experience in release of information activities, patient access, or direct patient care in an electronic setting
- Experience with EMR systems, particularly EPIC, is required
- Relevant certifications such as RHIT, RHIA, or EPIC Certification preferred
