Job Summary
To enhance the digitization and accessibility of the L.H. Bailey Hortorium Herbarium collection, the part-time Herbarium Digital Curator will manage specimen documentation and leverage computational technologies for research and education, with the flexibility to work remotely five days a week.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the digitization and management of herbarium specimens, ensuring proper documentation and accessibility
- Utilize modern computational technologies to enhance preservation and facilitate research and educational efforts
- Collaborate with diverse teams to contribute to global biodiversity databases and improve community engagement
Required qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent in Botany, Biology, Information Science, Museum Studies, or a related field
- Experience in botanical collections, herbarium management, or digital curation
- Familiarity with herbarium practices, taxonomy, and botanical data standards
- Proficiency in database management, including metadata entry and data validation
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to imaging equipment and software tools
