HIE Interface Engineer
Job Summary
To support the implementation and operation of a statewide Health Information Exchange, the full-time HIE Interface Engineer will develop and support healthcare interfaces and FHIR APIs remotely, ensuring secure and reliable clinical data exchange.
Key responsibilities
- Design and develop HL7, C-CDA, and FHIR interfaces using healthcare integration platforms
- Implement secure APIs and FHIR resource mappings while coordinating testing and deployment
- Document designs and operational procedures, mentoring colleagues and coordinating API access requirements
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, health informatics, or a related field
- 7+ years of relevant experience in developing and supporting production healthcare interfaces
- Hands-on experience with InterSystems HealthShare, Health Connect, or IRIS healthcare integration
- Strong knowledge of HL7 messaging, C-CDA, FHIR resources, US Core, and REST APIs
- Understanding of secure API authentication and reliable exchange of sensitive health data
