Hospital Billing Coding Coordinator

Job Summary

To support workflow improvements in the Hospital Billing IP Coding department, the full-time Hospital Billing Coding Coordinator will oversee coder training, ensure timely submission of inpatient charges, and review and assign codes for diagnoses and procedures in compliance with regulatory guidelines, working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Assists coders with accurate code selection and provides educational information to meet departmental goals
• Serves as a resource for coding questions and participates in internal and external audits
• Evaluates medical record documentation and assigns appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, and CPT codes based on established guidelines

Required qualifications

• Associate's degree in business and/or healthcare administration, Health Information Management, or Health Information Technology
• Two (2) years of coding experience or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience
• Extensive expertise in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM/PCS coding classification systems
• Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy regulations and medical record access
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record functionality is recommended
