Human-Centered Design Specialist
Job Summary
Working remotely, the full-time Human-Centered Design Specialist IV - UI/UX will create user-centered digital experiences for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs by designing intuitive interfaces, conducting user research, and collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the design lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Design effective and visually cohesive user experiences for digital products, translating research and business requirements into clear design concepts
- Conduct user research and usability testing, synthesizing findings into actionable design improvements and user-centered recommendations
- Establish and apply consistent visual and interaction patterns across digital products while preparing documentation for developer handoff
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human-Centered Design, User Experience Design, Interaction Design, or a related field
- 5-7+ years of professional experience in UI/UX, product design, or interaction design
- Strong proficiency with Figma or comparable UI/UX design tools
- Demonstrated experience in developing user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes
- Knowledge of Section 508, WCAG, and inclusive-design practices
