Job Summary
To support coding accuracy and compliance, the part-time HIM Certified Coder will be responsible for coding hospital inpatient, outpatient, and professional fee encounters using appropriate coding systems while working remotely and including weekend hours as needed.
Key responsibilities
- Accurately code all records according to ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCs classification systems
- Provide interdepartmental coding assistance and develop compliant coding methodologies
- Facilitate revenue optimization while maintaining compliance standards through auditing and training
Required qualifications
- Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from AAPC
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-Based (CCS-P) from AHIMA
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) from AHIMA
- Knowledge of regulatory coding guidelines and coding software
- Experience with electronic medical record systems for coding purposes
