Inpatient Coding Specialist

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Inpatient Coding Specialist for a full-time remote position, this role will manage coding processes across facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and maintaining quality targets while accurately abstracting inpatient accounts for hospital reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize computerized encoders and coding systems to complete the coding process
• Prioritize and organize coding work activities to meet deadlines and organizational goals
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation within medical records and resolve coding and documentation issues

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Formal education in Health Information Management or a related field
• One of the following credentials: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
• Minimum of three (3) years of inpatient coding experience in an acute hospital setting
• Proficiency in coding software and knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS coding regulations
