Inpatient Medical Coder RHIT

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Inpatient Medical Coder (Medical Coder III).

Key Responsibilities

• Assign diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient services, ensuring adherence to accuracy and timeliness standards
• Ensure correct assignment of DRGs and code inpatient discharge records with optimal DRG assignment
• Perform tasks within military coding systems and assist with ambulatory and outpatient coding as needed

Required Qualifications, Training, and Education

• RHIT or RHIA certification required, or 5 years of experience with AHIMA or AAPC certification
• 5+ years of medical coding/auditing experience in 2+ specialties, or 3+ years in a Military Treatment Facility
• At least 1 year of inpatient coding experience required
• Expertise in ICD-CM, PCS, HCPCS, and CPT coding
• 80% minimum score on coding assessment
