Insurance Appeals Specialist

Job Summary

To support patient care across UVA Health, the fully remote CBO Insurance Appeals Specialist will investigate and resolve complex coding and global insurance denials through payer follow-up, reconsiderations, and well-supported appeals.

Key responsibilities

• Review assigned charges, claims, and previously worked accounts across applicable systems
• Prepare accurate appeals and reconsiderations supported by claim and coding information
• Communicate directly with insurance payers and manage multiple work queues based on operational needs

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred
• 3+ years of relevant experience in insurance claims resolution
• CPC certification preferred
• Strong knowledge of coding and denial processes
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage varied denial types
