Insurance Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

To support healthcare operations, the full-time Bedded Insurance Authorization Specialist will perform initial and concurrent insurance authorization securement, clinical submission, and denial prevention for patients admitted to the hospital, working remotely and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Confirm patient insurance coverage and benefits, including deductible and copayment amounts
• Verify and document insurance eligibility and ensure timely authorization for services
• Analyze patient visit information to determine authorization needs and reduce denial rates

Required qualifications

• Experience working with insurance companies and/or medical authorizations
• Comprehensive understanding of insurance authorization requirements, contract benefits, and medical terminology
• High school diploma or GED; Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) required within 9 months of hire
• Hospital experience preferred
• Ability to handle stressful situations and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
