Insurance Registration Specialist

Job Summary

To support a world-class academic healthcare system, the full-time Registration & Insurance Specialist will conduct detailed reviews of patient insurance information, verify coverage, and manage billing activities while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct complex registration and insurance reviews for out-of-network exceptions, ensuring accurate clinical routing and coverage options
• Initiate and follow up on GAP exceptions and collaborate with managed care teams to secure necessary agreements
• Coordinate with revenue cycle teams to educate patients on their financial responsibilities and ensure timely follow-up on billing accounts

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of related insurance experience and 2 years of patient account experience in a hospital setting
• Previous experience with hospital information systems is strongly preferred
• Basic understanding of health insurance types and coverage verification
• Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems, such as Epic or Cerner
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook
