Job Summary
Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the IRF Coding Specialist will code inpatient rehabilitation facility records using ICD coding, maintain a coding schedule, and collaborate with the PPS Coordinator on impairment codes.
Key responsibilities
- Code IRF records accurately and within set timeframes
- Collaborate with the PPS Coordinator to assign impairment codes for admissions
- Transmit IRF PAIs for Medicare inpatients in a timely manner
Required qualifications
- RHIT, RHIA, or coding certification (CCA, CCS) by AHIMA or (CPC, CIC) by AAPC required
- Minimum two years of current experience in inpatient rehabilitation hospital coding (UB04 and IRF PAI)
- Advanced computer knowledge and proficiency with basic office equipment
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Demonstrated knowledge of growth and development principles for age-appropriate care
