Junior Bioinformatics Support Specialist
Job Summary
Supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Office of Advanced Molecular Detection, the full-time Junior Bioinformatics Support Specialist will manage technical support requests, troubleshoot analytical workflows, and assist with genomic data processing in a fully remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize incoming technical support requests through the scientific computing help desk
- Assist CDC scientists with bioinformatics software and scientific computing resources, providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 support
- Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides, technical instructions, and help desk documentation
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field
- Foundational knowledge of bioinformatics and experience troubleshooting technical issues
- Familiarity with Linux and scientific software or related computing technologies
- Ability to assess and manage multiple technical support requests
- Experience with technical documentation and user training
