Job Summary
To support accurate billing processes, the full-time Kentucky Licensed Coder II will work remotely to abstract and assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCs codes while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and identifying educational opportunities related to coding accuracy.
Key responsibilities:
- Accurately abstract information and assign appropriate codes into billing systems, ensuring compliance with established guidelines
- Identify and communicate deficiencies impacting the billing process and review denials for resolution
- Assist in training and mentoring staff while maintaining coding production and quality standards
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED/equivalent
- Three years of coding experience
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification from AAPC
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist Based (CCS-P) certification from AHIMA
- Advanced knowledge of medical coding conventions and regulatory changes
