Kentucky Licensed Medical Coder

Job Summary

To support a cardiology practice, the part-time Kentucky Licensed Medical Coder will assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes for outpatient hospital professional accounts, ensuring timely coding and compliance with official guidelines while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Assigns CPT and ICD-10 codes to all Cardiology and Electro Physiology services based on clinical documentation
• Monitors work queues to ensure timely coding and generates queries for clarification on physician documentation as needed
• Stays updated on coding conventions and manages a significant workload efficiently under pressure

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Professional coder certification from AHIMA and/or AAPC (CPC-A, RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CPC, COC, CPC-P, CCS)
• 5+ years of experience with cardiology coding using ICD-10 and CPT coding
• Intermediate proficiency with PCs in a Windows environment, including MS Excel and EMR systems
