Lead API Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the development of enterprise API solutions, the full-time Lead API Engineer will design, build, and support production APIs using C#/.NET and Azure technologies, while ensuring implementation quality and guiding technical direction across teams in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy production APIs and services, ensuring adherence to contract-first API practices
• Conduct code and design reviews, identifying risks and implementing automated quality controls within CI/CD pipelines
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership while collaborating with architecture and security teams on best practices

Required qualifications

• At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience, with 5 years in API or integration engineering and technical leadership
• Deep proficiency in C# and modern .NET, including experience with enterprise REST APIs and microservices
• Strong expertise in Azure API Management, including policy design, security, and troubleshooting
• Experience with contract-first API design using OpenAPI/Swagger and secure service-to-service communication
• Hands-on CI/CD experience using Azure DevOps or GitHub, with a focus on automated testing and quality gates
