Lead Applied Scientist, Document Understanding
Job Summary
Leading the design and development of document understanding systems, the full-time Lead Applied Scientist, Document Understanding will work remotely to create impactful solutions for legal, tax, and accounting content while collaborating with multiple product teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy semantic chunking models for complex legal documents
- Build document enrichment systems utilizing legal and customer-defined taxonomies
- Develop knowledge graph construction pipelines that extract and link legal concepts
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, or a related field
- 8+ years of industry experience in document understanding and applied NLP solutions
- Expertise in the end-to-end ML lifecycle, including model development and production deployment
- Strong Python programming skills with experience in PyTorch and Hugging Face Transformers
- Track record of publishing research in leading AI and NLP conferences
