Lead Compliance Risk Manager

Job Summary

As a new and high-visibility role, the full-time Lead Compliance Risk Manager will serve as the primary compliance advisor for Mercury's AI products, ensuring compliance-by-design throughout the product lifecycle while working remotely or onsite in San Francisco, New York, or Portland.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert for AI and agentic products, ensuring compliance with regulatory and financial partner obligations
• Advise product and engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle to ensure AI products are compliant by design
• Monitor regulatory developments relevant to AI in financial services and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in a compliance advisory, product compliance, or regulatory risk role, preferably in fintech or financial services
• Demonstrated experience advising on AI or machine learning products in a regulated environment
• Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks relevant to AI in banking, including UDAAP and BSA/AML
• Technical fluency to engage with engineers on model behavior and compliance-related technical issues
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple high-impact initiatives concurrently
