Lead Data Engineer
Job Summary
To design and maintain scalable data pipelines and systems, the full-time remote Lead Data Engineer will utilize modern data engineering practices and collaborate with teams to evaluate new tools and technologies, ensuring optimal performance and value delivery to clients.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and data models using Python, Apache Spark, dbt, and SQL
- Develop and optimize AWS-native data platforms leveraging services such as AWS Glue, Amazon EMR, and Amazon Redshift
- Lead modernization initiatives to migrate legacy platforms to cloud-native AWS services while mentoring junior engineers
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 15+ years of professional experience in data engineering or data architecture
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Python, SQL, and dbt for large-scale data engineering
- Proficiency in AWS services including AWS Glue, Amazon EMR, and Amazon S3
- Experience with modern data lake technologies and formats such as Parquet and Avro
