Job Summary
Taking complete ownership of daily database operations, the full-time Lead Database Engineer will manage and maintain the database infrastructure, design and secure underlying servers, and plan and deliver large technical projects while working remotely from anywhere in the UK or the US.
Key responsibilities
- Manage daily database operations, including backups, performance tuning, and resolving slow-running queries
- Design, secure, and maintain the Linux servers that support large distributed databases
- Plan and communicate technical projects, ensuring stakeholder understanding of impacts and execution plans
Required qualifications
- Advanced administration of MySQL in production environments, both on-premise and in the cloud
- Experience as the sole or lead owner of large production database infrastructure within a SaaS environment
- Proven ability to configure and troubleshoot complex MySQL replication setups
- Deep expertise in query tuning and advanced schema optimization
- Experience executing minimal-downtime upgrades and complex migrations, with skills in automation using Python and/or Bash
