Lead Kubernetes Engineer
Job Summary
Leading a modernization discovery for a high-scale consumer mobile platform, the full-time Lead Kubernetes Engineer will manage a multi-cluster production EKS estate, focusing on upgrade automation, compute strategy, and technical leadership in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Build a complete baseline of a multi-cluster production EKS estate, covering inventory, topology, and Kubernetes version status
- Design and implement an upgrade approach to automate the upgrade cycle and reduce manual processes
- Lead the execution of a modernization program, including multi-cluster architecture design and compute capacity strategy
Required qualifications
- 8+ years in DevOps, SRE, Platform, or Infrastructure Engineering, with 4+ years operating production Kubernetes
- Deep production experience with Amazon EKS at large scale, including ownership of EKS version upgrades
- Advanced production experience with Karpenter and strong understanding of EC2 instance families and generations
- Experience migrating production workloads to Graviton or other ARM64 platforms
- Advanced proficiency with Terraform and experience with observability tools like Datadog or Prometheus
