Job Summary
Leading a team of medical coders, the full-time Lead Medical Coder will oversee coding accuracy and compliance for the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System while managing daily workflows and providing technical support, all within a remote work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry a coding workload in specialty areas while supervising a team of coders
- Coordinate daily workflow, distributing assignments and monitoring performance standards
- Perform internal quality reviews and provide feedback and training to team members
Required Qualifications
- Active credential: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC, maintained at hire
- Minimum of 2 years of coding experience at a comparable VA medical center or large tertiary hospital
- Proficient in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, DRGs, CPT, HCPCS, and E/M coding
- Experience with Oracle Health coding workflows
- Formal training in anatomy, medical terminology, pathophysiology, and reimbursement methodologies
