Lead Observability Engineer
Job Summary
Leading an embedded TechPod remotely, the full-time salaried Lead Observability Engineer will assess observability maturity, design AWS-native architectures, and execute platform migrations for a high-scale consumer mobile platform.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive observability estate assessment, validating telemetry volumes and identifying fidelity losses
- Design AWS-native target architectures and build total cost of ownership models for current and future states
- Lead the migration process, including data collection, log transformations, and the establishment of policy-driven retention
Required qualifications
- 8+ years in SRE, DevOps, Observability, or Platform Engineering with 4+ years in a technical lead role
- Deep experience with metrics, logging, and tracing platforms at scale, including advanced knowledge of Prometheus and its ecosystem
- Hands-on experience with AWS observability services, including CloudWatch and Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus
- Proficiency in Terraform and experience with log pipelines and OpenTelemetry
- Ability to build total cost of ownership models and strong scripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash
