Job Summary

Leading the research agenda for a growing AI safety organization, the full-time Lead Research Scientist will manage major research projects, develop rigorous methodologies, and mentor researchers while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Set and evolve the research agenda to maximize impact through collaboration and resource allocation
• Lead major research projects from problem selection to publication, ensuring high standards of evidence
• Build external collaborations with AI Safety Institutes and model developers, representing the organization's research efforts

Required qualifications

• Track record of original research in AI safety, model evaluations, or related fields
• Strong understanding of frontier-model behavior and evaluation methodologies
• Ability to translate broad research problems into concrete programs and published results
• Excellent technical writing skills and effective communication with diverse stakeholders
• Experience in an early-stage research environment with a collaborative working style
