Lead Software Engineer
Job Summary
Providing technical leadership for a large web ecosystem, the full-time Lead Software Engineer will manage approximately 140 WordPress sites and Drupal properties, while remaining hands-on in coding, architecture, and engineering standards in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Own architecture, hosting, and infrastructure strategy across the web ecosystem
- Lead technical discovery and estimation, providing credible assessments to Product teams
- Mentor and develop engineers, ensuring knowledge sharing and reducing key-person dependencies
Required qualifications
- Eight or more years of professional software engineering experience, including leadership roles
- Deep, current experience with WordPress and Drupal, including custom themes and plugins
- Strong modern PHP skills and experience with SQL and front-end JavaScript frameworks
- Proven CI/CD and DevOps skills, including automated build and deployment pipelines
- Experience managing hosting and environment configuration for production web platforms
