Lead Substation Design Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the design of high-voltage substations, the full-time Lead Substation Design Engineer will serve as a technical subject matter expert, developing innovative engineering solutions, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring project success while working remotely or in a hybrid capacity from various locations across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Design power utility substations, including general arrangements, equipment layouts, and grounding plans, while ensuring compliance with applicable codes
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, and contractors to resolve technical issues and support project execution
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, reviewing calculations and design packages to maintain quality and compliance

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
• 10+ years of experience in substation physical design engineering
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Strong document management and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
