Job Summary
Managing large complex life applications, the full-time Lead Underwriting Consultant will underwrite and oversee risk selection, develop underwriting processes, and ensure adherence to standards while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Analyzes qualitative and quantitative data to provide approval for risk selection, coverage, and pricing
- Assists in conducting underwriting audits and recommends changes to improve productivity and profitability
- Maintains profitable mortality experience and collaborates with internal and external partners to ensure high-quality service levels
Required qualifications
- College degree required; equivalent work experience in life underwriting may be considered
- 7-10 years of underwriting experience
- FLMI, FALU, and ACS designations or current coursework toward earning certificates
- Strong knowledge of insurance products, underwriting factors, and insurance contract law
- Highly developed knowledge of medical science and its impact on mortality
