Legal Recovery Manager

Job Summary

To support a growing collections department, the full-time remote Legal and Deficiency Recovery Manager will oversee legal compliance, manage vendor relationships, and design a post charge-off recovery program while ensuring adherence to consumer protection laws.

Key responsibilities

• Design and manage the qualification criteria for legal escalation of accounts, ensuring compliance with FDCPA and state laws
• Oversee vendor and outside counsel relationships, conducting audits and ensuring compliance with legal standards
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures for post charge-off collections, identifying process gaps and providing solutions

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in legal operations, compliance management, or collections oversight within consumer lending or auto finance
• Working knowledge of FDCPA, UDAAP, and state consumer protection laws relevant to post charge-off collections
• Experience managing bankruptcy filings and SCRA compliance for servicemember accounts
• Proven ability to manage outside counsel relationships and oversee legal collections activities across multiple states
• Bachelor's degree required; JD, paralegal certification, or CRCM preferred but not required
