Job Summary
Reviewing clinical documentation for accurate coding, the full-time Licensed Inpatient Coder will assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for Facility Inpatient records while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Select and sequence ICD-10 CM and PCS codes for designated patient types, ensuring accurate MS-DRG assignments
- Abstract clinical data from records to support diagnoses, procedures, and discharge dispositions
- Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and participate in compliance programs and continuing education activities
Required qualifications
- Active AHIMA or AAPC credential (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, COC, CCS-P, CPC)
- Two years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience with Acute Inpatient records
- Successful completion of a pre-employment skills assessment
