Licensed Principal Substation Engineer

Job Summary

As a Principal Substation Physical Design Engineer, this full-time position offers the opportunity to lead the design of high-voltage substations, develop engineering solutions, and mentor junior engineers while working remotely or in a hybrid capacity from various locations across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Design power utility substations, including general arrangements, equipment layouts, and grounding plans, while ensuring compliance with applicable codes
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure successful project execution and resolve technical issues
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, reviewing calculations and design packages for quality and compliance

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
• 15+ years of experience in substation physical design engineering
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) License
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Prior experience designing substations ranging from 12kV to 500kV
